Arjuna Plastik continues to expand its capabilities in supporting various industries, including the cosmetic and personal care sector, which demands not only functional packaging but also premium visual aesthetics. Recently, Arjuna Plastik successfully secured a new project from PT. Dassa Cipta Daya, a company operating in the cosmetic industry. Through this collaboration, Arjuna Plastik is entrusted to support the development and manufacturing of plastic components that will undergo vacuum metallizing finishing, producing a luxurious chrome-like appearance commonly used in cosmetic packaging. This milestone reflects Arjuna Plastik’s growing role as a reliable manufacturing partner for cosmetic packaging development.
What is Vacuum Metallizing?
Vacuum metallizing is an advanced finishing process used to create a metallic chrome-like surface on plastic components. This technology is widely used in cosmetic packaging to achieve a premium, reflective, and elegant appearance while maintaining the lightweight advantages of plastic materials.
The process involves placing plastic parts inside a vacuum chamber, where a thin layer of metal—typically aluminum—is vaporized and deposited onto the surface of the plastic part. The result is a highly reflective metallic finish that resembles real metal plating. Vacuum metallizing is widely used for cosmetic caps, perfume packaging components, skincare container lids, decorative packaging parts, and premium household product accessories.
Typical Process of Vacuum Metallizing
- Base Coating (Surface Preparation)
Plastic parts are first coated with a base layer or primer using a spray coating system. This step ensures the surface becomes extremely smooth and glossy, which is crucial for achieving a perfect metallic reflection. - Vacuum Metallization
The coated parts are placed into a vacuum metallizing machine. Inside the vacuum chamber, aluminum material is heated until it vaporizes. The vaporized metal particles then evenly deposit onto the surface of the plastic parts, forming a thin metallic layer that creates the chrome or metallic mirror effect. - Top Coating (Protective Layer)
After metallization, a protective top coat is applied to protect the metallic surface from scratches and oxidation. This layer also allows manufacturers to create various finishes such as silver chrome, gold chrome, champagne metallic, and other decorative metallic colors.
Arjuna Plastik’s Role in the Process
In this production workflow, Arjuna Plastik focuses on the critical manufacturing stage: high-precision plastic injection molding. The quality of the injection molded parts plays a significant role in determining the final metallizing result. Smooth surfaces, precise geometry, and consistent material quality are essential to achieve a flawless metallic finish.
With extensive experience in custom plastic product development, Arjuna Plastik provides comprehensive manufacturing support including product design consultation, prototype development, mold fabrication, and high-quality plastic injection production. Arjuna Plastik also collaborates with finishing specialists to ensure the final product meets premium cosmetic packaging standards.
Supporting the Cosmetic Industry
The cosmetic industry requires packaging that combines functionality, durability, and visual appeal. By supporting vacuum metallizing-ready components, Arjuna Plastik contributes to the creation of elegant cosmetic packaging that meets international expectations. The collaboration with PT. Dassa Cipta Daya marks an important step for Arjuna Plastik in strengthening its presence within the cosmetic manufacturing ecosystem.
Looking Forward
Arjuna Plastik remains committed to continuously improving its manufacturing capabilities to support industries that demand high-quality plastic components. With the ability to develop custom plastic parts compatible with decorative finishing technologies such as vacuum metallizing, Arjuna Plastik is ready to collaborate with cosmetic brands and product developers both locally and internationally.
